Color Schemes for Yellow

I love working with yellow, it is such a positive and cheerful color.

If you look at the picture below, you will see some different color schemes that were derived from the color wheel for the hue Yellow.

I will give you an example of how they work once you have selected the scheme from the color wheel.

These are a starting point for creating a color scheme.

With the use of different tone and texture, a combination of fabric, paint, wallpaper and carpet you can start by selecting a scheme that you like, choose one color as the base color and quietly add your accents according to the scheme.

Yellow, crisp and fresh, yet warm and buttery.

Yellow, crisp and fresh, yet warm and buttery.

For example I will select a yellow monochromatic color scheme. This is achieved by adding a tint (white) to the color and we have varying tones of that.We can use a plush rich golden honey carpet as our base color, with a pale cream rug which is laying under a golden oak dining table.

The chairs are covered in a soft chenille fabric of striped yellows and of verying tones. The walls are a soft butter yellow. There is a vibrant yellow and white contemporary oil painting on the wall, a bright yellow vase on the table with pale white roses.

The look is simple and one color, but by using different tones and textures with the odd piece of bold color the room has interest and is easy on the eye, pleasant to dine in and warm and comfortable.
