It’s biomorphic forms are an easily recognizable feature of Arne Jacobson’s chairs. The 3107 chair has clean lines and it’s light and airy look is derived from the female form. The 3107 chair or Series 7 chairs were awarded a Grand Prix at the 1957 Milan Triennale.

3107 Chair - Arne Jacobsen

There were five different types of chair including an arm chair and a swiveling office chair.Today the seat can be seen in colored variations and changes the look to the style of the time.

Jacobsen designed a linking device that allowed the chairs to be multifunctional and link together in rows for the use in auditorium or lecture rooms, a low cost way to accomodate large seating requirements.

It was, and still is a popular chair for use in offices and cafes and it’s design has been copied worldwide -the sign of a very good design is when everyone wants to copy it.
