Oriental Themed Bedroom with Traditional Japanese Design Influences
Often themed bedrooms can be tiresome, but this oriental themed bedroom is subtle and homely.
Using elements borrowed from Traditional Japanese Design, the cherry blossom on the silk screen used as a bed head, and the lantern on the bedside table, the space is oriental but not overwhelming and in keeping with the Japanese style of simplicity.
The futon bed is in keeping with the oriental theme and the bedding is simple and unadorned. The addition of red as a bedcover at the base of the bed grounds the bedding as it does have the appearance of floating over the base otherwise. The bolster cushion in the same fabric and the cushions on the chair to the left balance the single addition of color in this bedroom space.
I have just noticed a very subtle textural design factor in the room. Can you see it? Look down. Yes, it’s the floor rug, in soft muted gray with black cherry wood branches and white cherry blossom, softening the bedroom timber floor and reflecting the cherry blossom image of the bed head screen.
This bedroom has curtains at the windows but I can’t see how they are designed.
Overall the bedroom has a warm and comfortable feel in an original oriental theme that looks inviting to any tired person!
