Eileen Gray Table

E1027 Table – Eileen Gray 1927

Modern Furniture Profile

The E1027 is a table that we see often in movies and theatres. It is an icon of modern furniture design, yet still practical and functional in today’s interiors.

Eileen Gray’s use of simple lines and shapes results in this height adjustable multifunctional table.

Originally designed for her sister, a great lover of breakfast in bed who was unable to find a table to accommodate her desires.

Gray was successful in pleasing her with this adjustable table.

It can be adjusted from 64cm to 95cm and the top has a 52cm diameter.

The table is constructed of a triple chrome plated tubular steel frame with a hardened glass top. It’s design name is E1027, but is often simply called the Eileen Gray Table.

Her use of tubular steel was inspired by the experiments of Marcel Breuer at the Bauhaus.

The Modernist table is versatile and can sit well with many styles of interiors. Today it is used in offices, reception areas, as side tables in living rooms and even outdoors.
