Q. I have a brownish white sofa, sleeper and a black & beige upholster chair. What is the best color scheme for my living room? From: Rubaiya

A. The answer to your question depends on what you like. You can use almost any colour with your furniture as it is classed as neutral. For a simple look, try a darker beige than you chair on the walls, for more impact try a deep red, or a warm inviting look try rich gold ochre tones and continue the natural theme. I hope this gives you a starting point. Thanks for visiting our site.

Q. I am having a kitchen problem. I have a black/grey granite table, my floor is white with black speckle ceramic, my countertops are light beige with black speckle, and my cabinets are light beige. This is my question: should I get wood chairs, if so with what color seating. And lastly, should I repaint my walls at all. They, along with my appliances are white. Help desperately needed, thank you.
From: Pina, Montreal, Canada

A. In response to your query, wooden chairs will add a new texture to the room. A dark timber will look great and add some solidness to the room. The walls, yes time to paint, you could choose almost any color with the existing colors that you have as they are neutral. I think a deep gold ochre (attached an idea of color) will work and enhance the natural tones that you have. You could use the same color on your chair seats and add a secondary color into the pattern perhaps. This gold color will warm up the room and make it feel cosy. I hope this gives you a starting point. Thank you for visiting our site, feel free to come back as we are adding new articles everyday that may be of interest.

Q.
My roommate and I repainted our kitchen a great bright and cheery green, but we are now stumped on what to do for the living room. The living room shares the "green wall" with the kitchen and right now there is an obvious break in the rooms, since one is green and the other white! Would you recommend painting the rest of the wall green?? Or is there some other way that I make the two rooms harmonize well, while keeping my green wall? From: Nikki

A. I would add more color! You could use the color wheel to help you select another color, perhaps a red/violet (purple) yellow green's complementary color or a red orange or blue violet. It is important to use the same intensity for the other color you select or your green will loose its impact. Bright yellow will be fun and add cheerfulness; orange will create a similar feel. Green is a great color, if you look in nature you will find that it goes with everything!! Make sure you add a little of each color into the other room so that the spaces flow and have balance, use vases, cushions, pictures, fabric etc. Good luck! I hope that this has given you some ideas. Q.
My husband and I would like to paint our bedroom, but are disagreeing about colors, etc. Our bedroom is 10 x 12 with a bay window on one wall. He would like to paint the bedroom burgundy and paint our existing furniture (which is a cherry wood) white and paint the trim white. My idea is to paint the room an olive green with off-white bedding and burgundy accents. What is your opinion? Help!!!!!!!! From: Sandra, Winnipeg, Canada

A. I can't believe you are asking me to get in between you and your husband!!!! Here goes....
I see one way for you to both get your way. You could add a dado or chair rail at about 1/3rd up the wall from the floor and paint below burgundy, the chair rail white and the walls above the olive green! It is a big job painting bedroom furniture, I would paint the walls first and see if you still feel it necessary. I hope I have been of some use. If you need more help just write back. Good luck.
