dezine news January
Sorry about the lack of a December Newsletter, it was a busy time of year, so we have double the news for this month.
Two great new web sites for you......... Color and The Event Reminder.
Our color website is packed full of articles to teach you all you need to know about color and how to use it. We have color theory, color schemes, color articles and color resources for you to browse through. If you like what you see you may want to pick up our color ebook to learn all this information at home.
The second website is a little different to our usual interior design and decorating websites. It is called The Event Reminder, and it does just that. You can type in all the birthdays and special occasions that you need to remember, then you will be reminded and can send an e-card if you want, which you can select from our extensive range, covering all tastes and occasions! It saves you time and keeps your loved ones happy that you have remembered them.
If you like the system, share it with your friends because the best part is it is absolutely free!
Dezine Definition - Open PlanningOpen Planning: A term taken from the style of Frank Lloyd Wright’s modern concept of space planning at the turn of the twentieth century. Traditional concepts of individual rooms for activities gave way to open planning. Large flowing living areas which integrated compatible activities. The spaces were divide by columns, changes in floor and ceiling level, interior plant placements, and furniture placement which all combined to created activity spaces within the open plan. A concept that is still in full use today as with our new technology heating and insulating these larger spaces has been simplified and become more efficient than when it was first conceived. Dezine TipIf you have tired, worn and stained carpet in a room, invest in a good quality rug, as big as you can, this will hide a great deal of carpet and lead your eye to the design rather that what is underneath, you can then change your decoration to match the rug if you feel like a little spruce up! Beware....dezine no no....do not use little carpet samples or tiny rugs to hide small stains, this looks tacky as well as creates a great way to trip over, they move around and make the room look disjointed. If you are going for a rug, think big!!! Your Questions AnsweredQ. I want to paint our main bathroom a dark color, everything is white and it looks plain. I was thinking dark charcoal or blue to add some contrast. We don't use it very often, only when we have guests. What is your advice? Shelley, New Zealand. A. Even though we have very good paint products and much better ventilation in our bathrooms than we used to, I would still steer away from painting it a very dark color. No matter what you do you will always get faint water lines from the steam of the shower or bath. Over time these become more obvious. With light colored walls it is difficult to see, but it stands out loud and clear on darker walls. I have seen this in numerous homes. Perhaps a mid toned color would create interest and the contrasting effect you are looking for.
