Tapware / Faucets - The Spout
This is the part that allows the water out of the system into the sink, bath, shower or basin.
It is not as vital to be ergonomically correct but there are still a few considerations to be taken into account when choosing the fitting.
If it is for the laundry or kitchen do you require it to be able to be extended for a clothes or vegetable spray.
Do you require a head that will allow different types of water jet to come out, e.g. in one solid stream or as a spray?
If the water from the tap is to be used for drinking does the tap itself have a filter or aerator?
A basic requirement is to have the spout able to be turned to one side to allow the sink to be fully utilised without anything getting in the way.

A swivel spout so that the entire kitchen sink can be accessed.
|

This spray head is great for cleaning vegetables and perhaps the odd pet if necessary!
|
The spout over a wash hand basin is every bit as important if the basin is to be used for more than just washing hands.
You may want to wash hair or face in the basin and in doing so have free access to the basin without the spout being in the way. |

An extendable kitchen mixer spout, great for filling tall objects and buckets.
|
If this is the case an extendable spout head and also on a swivel is important. The same can be said for a bath however dual systems may be required.

Large remote spout over bath. |
Remember that a bath will take some time to fill up so the amount of water going into it has to be quite a bit more than a basin or sink. Hence many bath spouts are larger and can carry more water in less time. |
