Plumbing and Drainage Definitions
Plumbing and Drainage - are the systems of getting water into the building, then removing it and other fluids and fluid wastes after it has been used.
Plumbing - incorporates services such as sanitary plumbing, cold and hot water services, flusherette systems, gas supplies, fire prevention services, roof work, downpipes and the installation of sanitary fixtures, taps and outlets.
Drainage - is the commonly used term referring to underground systems such as sewer pipelines, stormwater systems and the subsoil drainage systems. I.e. the outdoor water and fluid removal services.
A Sanitary Plumbing System - refers to the pipes, fittings, fixtures and appliances used to collect and convey sewerage to a sanitary drainage system. I.e. the indoor water and fluid removal services.

A Sanitary Drainage System - refers to the pipes, fittings, fixtures and appliances used to collect and convey sewerage from the sanitary plumbing system and fixtures directly connected via the drain to the sewer. This system is usually below ground level. Sewer - is the actual exterior pipeline carrying the sewerage. Sewage means wastewater and human waste.
Sewerage System - refers to the total system of a town. |
