Home Bathroom Accessories - The Toilet Roll Holder
Yes, interior design covers the most mundane, logical and sometimes intimate or personal items. The choice of the toilet roll holder is up to the individual as they all basically do the same job, dispensing toilet tissue.
However where the toilet roll holder is positioned relative to where the user is seated is important. If it is mounted directly on the wall that the toilet is attached to then this means that the person will have to twist on the seat to access it. This could be uncomfortable for the user.
Ideally it should be on a wall adjacent to the toilet either to the left or right of the user. This is easy if the room is separate for the toilet however if the toilet is incorporated into the main bathroom then a handy position for the toilet is towards a corner of the room. If this isn't possible then the holder should not be directly behind the user but out to one side as far as practical so that the twisting is reduced and stretching isn't necessary.

An easy to reach toilet roll holder. As an exercise, take a measuring tape into the toilet with you, sit down and measure the heights and distances that you can reach. This exercise will help you evaluate basic anthropometric data while seated, as the toilet is not a good place to be stretching twisting and turning. It will also act as a good reminder of the anthropometric and ergonomic lesson |

Note: When designing for someone else you will need to know their personal daily living habits. This is so that you will be able to cater their design needs to their environment? They may like your aesthetic taste but they won't thank you when it's not practical for them. More Information on Bathroom Accessories below.......Extract Fan |
