Simple Apartment Makeover
Brief:
To lift the apartment's spirit for the minimum amount of expenditure possible.
Plan of Attack:
Minor space-planning upstairs to create larger bedrooms and wardrobes, upgrade the light fittings and add some color to the walls.
Original Entry
The entry floor was carpet and difficult to keep clean, the light fitting was cheap and lowered the tone of the space.
New Entry
Mid green tiles were laid to match the carpet in the adjoining areas, they are easy care and more structured than the original floor covering. The new light fitting and crisper wall color work well to widen the space and increase the level of detail in the space.
Original Dining Area
This space lacked depth and required a face lift.
New Dining Area
A strong gold was applied to the back wall, which provides a bold contrast with the timber furniture. The addition of a print with golden tones and gold frame add interest and create a focal point in the dining area. The remaining walls received a warm cream color.
 |
Original Kitchen
The one overall colour of the kitchen cabinetry and the walls required breaking as it was very boring in a small space and there were no real features in the room.
|
New Kitchen
Deep red was selected for the walls, which contrasts wonderfully with the deep green bench top, (complementary colour scheme).
These two colours became the focal point and drew our attention away from the neutral colours of the cabinetry.
The red is very warm and creates a spicy new kitchen. |

Original Bathroom
This room was "too peachy."
A splash back was required to the vanity and a change of colour definitely required. |
New Bathroom
A marine theme was decided on, derived from the glass tiles that the client had already purchased with fish and shell motifs.
Blue was used to the lower portion of the walls and a pale cool blue tinted white to the remainder of the room.
Nautical towels, shower curtain and knick knacks complete the theme (not shown).
