Craft Project
Table Runner
A simple and economical way to decorate any table.
You will need:
Remnant of fabric, sewing machine, thread, sissors, pins, measuring tape, iron, needle (for hand sewing), tassles (optional).
Method
Press your fabric, lie it flat. Measure 40cm across and mark out on your fabric with pins or tailors chalk.
This will be the width of your table runner. Cut along this line.
Depending on the length of your table you may need to cut some off the end. Measure your table and decide which lenght you want.
For a dining table leave room at the ends so that people can sit there, for a coffee table, you can make it so it hangs over and use tassles to weigh it down.
Measure and turn up (to the wrong side of the fabric) and pin, 1cm around the entire piece of fabric, press, then turn up a further 3 cm and press.
Turn to the right side of the fabric and top stitch 5mm in from the outer edge of the entire piece of fabric. Then repeat but topstitch in 2.5cm from the outer edge of the fabric. Then press.
