Craft Project

Glass Frames

A simple way to brighten up any corner of a room, with only a few skills required, a small amount of money and a lot of imagination.

You will need:

  • Glass clip frames (available at most stationery, gift or home stores or art suppliers)
  • Something innovative to display - some ideas are:
Fabric, Photos, Pictures, Cards, Dried Flowers, Stencil, Stamping, Weave fabric, Weave paper.

Method

For all the above ideas, you simply need to cut the desired object to the size of the frame then remove the glass and clips, place the object ie card on the backing (you can spot glue it if desired but it probably won't move anyway) then place the glass on top, attach the clips and you have done it. Very simple, the hardest things to do is cutting straight and to the correct size, so use a ruler and a craft knife to ensure straight lines.

Test your Interior Decorating Skills then send in your score to be in the draw for 10 Mystery prizes, it's easy and fun. Start your Quiz here

Stencil Example

This time we used different colored card and stencilled childrens designs with the addition of glitter for a sparkle effect.

Fix the stencil to the card,(temporarily so it doesn't move), then use a stencil brush or sponge to lightly apply paint to the stencil.

For a crisp effect allow for the paint to dry between color changes, for a blended effect use layering while the paint is still damp to create mottled colors.

Using a stencil brush to create the stencilled design.

Using a stencil brush to create the stencilled design. You only need a tiny amout of paint, if you use too much it can bleed under the stencil plate and create blurry edges. So get some paint on the brush and dap it onto paper to remove most of it.

By adding PVA glue to specific areas when the paint is dry you can the sprinkle glitter over and the PVA dries clear. This adds a sparkle to the stencil.
