Color Schemes for Green

We use the color wheel as the basis for composing a color scheme, we can quickly work out using a set formula or rules which combinations we can work with.

Here are the color schemes that you can create with Green. Obviously you can alter the hue, by adding white, black or gray, but the basic principals remain. To find out how these schemes are derived visit Color Wheel Combinations.

To work out how to use them here is an example: The complementary color scheme below uses green and it's complementary color red.

To use this in an interior decorating scheme you could paint the walls a lighter tint of green (by adding white), then use the dark green hue as the base of drapery fabric with a pattern incorporating some highlights of the red, you could then have very pale green blinds, use some green and red striped cushions on the black leather sofa and chairs, a red rug under the coffee table.

You can see how we are working with these two colors and using different shades and tints of them to create a pleasing interior color scheme.
