Ettore Sotsass - Austrian
Ettore Sotsass was born in Austria in 1917.
He studied architecture at the Milan Polytechnic and graduated in 1939.
He is an industrial designer, furniture designer and artist.
He is active in furniture, ceramics, jewellery and decorations.
His Memphis Group created an uproar when they produced toy like brightly coloured pieces of furniture. He designed office furniture, typewriters and other office equipment for Olivetti.
In 1980, he formed a design firm called Sotsass Associati which produced designs for many products as well as architectural designs.
