Curtain Accessory Photographs

Curtain accessories can change the look of a curtain, they can add the final and finishing touches of flair to a curtain design. Take a look at some photographs and gather ideas on how you can add that little bit extra to your curtain design by using curtain accessories.

Lace, tiebacks, bullion fringes, finials, hold backs, tassels, buttons, piping are all commonly used accessories in curtain and drapery design.

Curtain Tassels.

Curtain Tassels

Tassels come in an enormous variety of colors and materials, from cotton to silk, tassels can be used in tiebacks as a fringing or as an accessory with cushions.

Tassel Fringe

Tassel Fringe

A tassel fringe is used on the hem of this window valance with a goblet pleat heading. You can see that by using a contrasting color it draws your eye to the tassel fringe detail and become a focal point. If you used the same color it would simply add texture and not be a focal point of the curtain design.

Decorative Curtain Rod Finial

Decorative Curtain Rod Finial

Decorative curtain rods are a form of hanging a curtain, they are often decorated with finials on the end, this example shows a scroll or crook shape.

There is an exhausting range of finials available now which suit modern and traditional curtain designs, so they are widely used in today’s curtain design.

Bobble Fringe to Leading Edge of Curtain

I love this little extra piece of decorative trim to the already elaborate curtain design. The bobble fringe added to the leading edge of the curtain creates a textured edge and is in high contrast to the lace curtain behind.

Another curtain accessory used here is the brass decorative dome tie back holders, a post and dome form allows the cord to hold back the curtains off the window.

Bullion Fringe to Leading Edge of Curtain

Highly decorated living room, the bullion fringe to the leading edge of the curtain adds luxury and opulence to the space. The brass rose dome tie back holder adds elegance and functionality to the curtain.

Ribbon is Useful with Curtain Design

I am not sure what type of blind this is but I I do know that it is being held up with pink ribbon. Ribbon is useful as a trim, as tiebacks, on pelmets or valances.

Once again this is a good example of using a fringe to the leading edge of the curtain. It just adds another dimension to the curtain, it provides more opulence and elegance and a detail that is not overlooked when viewing and interior.

You can see there is more detail in the design with the cord piping on the sofa cushions and the tassels on the ends of the sofa.

Decorative Tie Back Tassels

As you can see there is a lot of detail in these tassels. They are used for tiebacks on the end of a cord and the color combinations are endless. They are also made of many different materials like silk, cotton or acrylic and often embellished with other ornamentation like beads as in this example.

Ribbon Tie Back Tassel

This is another variation of a cord tassel tie back. The tassels are made of ribbon in this example. Personally I love the fabric and tieback combination here.

Curtain Accessories

Loads of interesting accessories on show in this curtain example. A decorative rod and ring system with a french pleated curtain, a tassel fringing to the leading edge of the curtain, a cord tassel tie back fixed to a brass flower dome. An inverted pleat under curtain with a trim above the hem in the same fabric as the curtain and the cute stool has a tassel fringe to the upholstery.
